Movie Inspiration: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

This is another one where I started with the movie, and set out to find a line that I could parody.  Amusingly enough, I didn’t have to go that far into the film to find it.  The line that appears in the comic is from the beginning narration, about 5 minutes in.

My initial intention was to the dude looking anguished, trying to remember what he changed his password to.  CJ suggested I should show a close up of the screen with the “Invalid Password” message on it, and then she took it a step further and said that he should be trying to log into the Mines of Moria.  That led to another first with “Try Catch Finally” – this comic actually folds a line from the movie and a completely different scene from the movie together to create the joke.

I started with the desk and monitors from “I am Iron Dude”, lightened the colors, and reduced the number of monitors to one.  I also extended the desk to include a half-circle on the end since it looked better than the square edge that I started with.  It turned out well, but when I started having problems finding room for the movie line, I ended up covering with the movie quote.  If you squint you can still see it through the haze, though.

This was another comic that CJ got into micro-managing.  Ahem – I mean, of course, I was “blessed” to receive her help.  “That line right there under… no the other line.  It needs to move up a bit.  More.  A little more.   *exasperated sigh*  Can i just borrow the mouse for a second?!?”

See what I mean?  Blessed.
